30 Hour Famine

2019 was the 4th year of this program at St. George's.

The middle and high school youth groups team up to do the 30 Hour Famine. Our Youth Group and Confirmation class go hungry to help save kids’ lives.  Every $40 we raise can help feed and care for a child for month!

The youth started their fast at home at noon on February 9th. We met as a group at the church at 6 pm on February 9th for some fun Famine programming put together by World Vision. We broke our fast February 10th with Holy Communion then a spaghetti dinner attended by our families and church members.

How Everyone Can Support the Youth:

Pray. Pray for a teen, our youth group, our youth leaders and volunteers, and the hungry kids whose lives will be changed through their efforts.

Donate money. Be on the lookout for the youth collecting donations for World Vision and ask them how the money collected is put to good use. Visit the St. George online donation page for additional details and to donate online!

Donate canned goods. The youth will collecting canned goods for SOME as their weekend outreach activity. Look for posters around the church about the food drive.

Spread the word. Post our online fundraising information across all of your social media sites and email it to all of your friends and family. Or share this webpage!

Become a fasting buddy. Support your students by fasting alongside them (not necessarily from food). A shared experience can open up new avenues of conversation!

Volunteer. Contact Brandi Carson if you would like more information on the 30 Hour Famine or the spaghetti dinner.

Come to the Sunday 6:00 pm dinner. All members of the church are welcome to join in the spaghetti dinner. Come share a meal with us and speak to the youth about their amazing experience.

Photos for the event are posted in our Photo gallery - 30 Hour Famine.
