Adult Bible Studies

St. George's has a variety of weekday and weeknight adult Bible studies in addition to our Sunday Education offerings.

Weekday Study:

Week Day Bible Study is open to all. The group meets in our library on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. There will be no meeting the week of Thanksgiving.
Beginning November 28th and  through the season of Advent this group will study what scripture says about prophesy and fulfillment concerning the Messiah.
The study of "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis will resume after Christmas.

Weeknight Studies:

Men's Bible Study - in the Music Room on Monday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:00 pm.

The fall program on the “Beatitudes of Jesus” has completed. The Monday men's Bible study is resuming Dec. 3 with “That the World May Know.” Led by Pastor Ray Vander Laan, this engaging video series explores the world of the Scriptures drawing on the most up-to-date archeological, historical and Biblical scholarship.

Books for the class will be available at the church. The cost is $8.00. Or order your own copy. Get the study guide for the first section of "That the World May Know" here.

This program will be led by Ray Lightcap, with Youth for Christ (YFC) Ministries of the Capital District where he serves as Spiritual Development Director. Ray and his wife Ruth have served together in the Teen Parent Program at YFC. Prior to serving with YFC, he spent 25 years as a parish pastor and has been a guest speaker at the Tuesday morning Healing service at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center.

Women's Beth Moore Bible Study - In Hatlee Hall (our parish hall) on Monday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00pm.  On September 17th we started "Daniel - Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy. This 12 week Bible Study met for 6 weeks and will pick up again in January.

The prophet Daniel faced unbelievable pressures - to compromise his faith, to live in a hostile culture, and to confront temptations and threats. Today, believers face many of the same trials. This study examines how believers can develop integrity in our modern-day Babylon, and then explores prophesies from the time of Daniel through the second coming of Christ.

Beth Moore is an author, Bible scholar, and an entertaining speaker, whose mission is to guide women everywhere into a richer, more fulfilling relationship with Jesus.

Her Bible studies follow a workbook with daily readings and reflections and each Monday evening session begins with prayer & discussion followed by a 1-hour video.
