Altar Guild

It was a busy year! The dedicated members of the Altar Guild worked as a team, as they helped prepare for our worship services. “Thank you” to every AG member!

Ongoing Teamwork

Each week, Doris Halvorsen schedules a five member team. The team selects the Communion vessels and linens for use and organizes the altar after mass. When a baptism is scheduled, they put the appropriate items on the altar. They also help prepare for weddings and funerals. Linda Wilson takes care of our linens. Abby Bee is a reliable resource—we often need to draw on her years of experience and we discussed new ideas with her.

Holidays

Before each holiday, we hold “work days” to spruce up the church and chapel. We discuss special preparations, such as florist orders and other purchases. We order palms, plants and greens. We prepare the church for Lent and transform it with flowers for Easter. We decorate for Advent and organize the “greening” of the church at Christmas. We’re thankful to Paul Hibbert, who is not an AG member, but when our usual Christmas tree delivery was unavailable, he came to the rescue and delivered four large trees.

Our Sanctuary at Christmas

At our annual banquet, we recognized AG Efforts. This year we were especially grateful to Judy Drake for her many years of service as AG Director. Dee Erno provided us with ongoing financial management and she issued an annual report.

Along the way, AG members developed a deeper appreciation of the way we worship and enjoyed Christian fellowship.

Daily Proverb

Proverbs 9:12

If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
