Membership
You may ask, "How do I join St. George’s Church?"
Let us know that you are new to St. George's. We try to give all guests a packet with a DVD and information about our church. Fill the card in the packet or one of the Voice from the Pew cards and give it to one of ushers. Participate in our Discovery Series offered three times a year on Sunday mornings. Have us record your Baptism in our register or have a Letter of Transfer sent from your previous Episcopal Church. Join us in worship, education, service, and fun!
When you get a letter or a phone call from one of our priests, please allow one of them to visit with you and get to know you. All persons who have received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism with water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, whether in this (the Episcopal) Church or in another Christian Church, and whose Baptism has been recorded in this church, are members thereof." (Canon 17, Section 1). To record your baptism in the Episcopal Church will mean having a Letter of Transfer sent from another Episcopal Church for us to register you or showing us your Baptismal certificate, if you were Baptized in another Christian church.
Confirmation
Adult members of the Episcopal Church are expected to have received Confirmation; " a mature affirmation of their faith and commitment to the responsibilities of their Baptism." Those from other denominations are either confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church. Confirmation instruction is offered annually. The Episcopal Church is a part of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
In addition, ours is a parish in communion with the diocese of Albany. Happily, we are also proud members of the religious community in the Upper Hudson Deanery. It is our sincere hope that you will find a place for your life in Christ with us at St. George’s.
