Stewardship is Reaching Out in Ministry!

Stewardship: A Way of Life

  • Stewardship provides a spiritual way of living for all of us - a way of being in the world.
  • Stewardship is about reflecting on our faith and on the way we live and act as disciples of Jesus.
  • Stewardship is about caring for each other: for our families, for our church, for our community and for all of God's creation.
  • Stewardship is about sharing the many gifts our gracious God has given us. It helps us to reflect upon our giftedness; all that we have which constitutes our treasure: our families, friends, time, talents, skills, material possessions and finances.

Results for our Stewardship Campaign 2008 - 2009

THANK YOU – YOUR COMMITMENT SHOWS!

On June 7th, we celebrated the commitment within St. George’s demonstrated through the financial pledges made for July 1st through December 31st.  Our ambitious goals may not have been fully achieved, but we took a collective step forward in securing the bright future ahead.

Commitment cards continue to come in…it’s never too late!  As of June 23rd, we have received 178 family pledges for a 6 month total of $147,899.  This is over 90% of our stated goal, which included $24,000 of our 2008 deficit.  Without that deficit included, we achieved 105% of our operating goals for the remaining six months of the year.

The Vestry extends its sincerest appreciation to the many hands that made this campaign possible, without whose involvement this important responsibility would never by fulfilled.

Questions Kids Have About Stewardship

What is a "steward"?

A steward is someone who has been put in charge of something by its owner. For example, if you are a baby sitter, you are a steward for the parents of the child you are watching. We have been entrusted as stewards, or keepers, of God's creation. This means that He has given us everything we have—our clothing and shoes, our house and home, our time and money. Out of love for all that Jesus has done for us, we use everything He has given us to serve Him and one another.

 Why do Christians give?

Like everyone else, we belong to God because He created us and sustains us, but as Christians, we belong to His kingdom of salvation through our baptism. This is what motivates us to give of what we have. We don't give because we owe God for all He has done for us in Jesus, but instead, we give because of the powerful Gospel working in us! Wow! God really strengthens us for wonderful service!

A Thoughtful Stewardship Message

St. George’s Church is not supported by a large endowment. That fact makes pledging even more important. St. George’s is an active and vigorous parish made up of committed disciples, a commitment energized by faith and made manifest in time, talent, and treasure. Your pledges reflect commitments in the present for the future. By making a commitment, you are acting responsibly as one of Christ’s stewards.
