Maureen Demler has served at St. George’s as Deacon since her ordination in May 2009 with the exception of 2 ½ years spent in England with her husband, Randy, while he worked with a contractor for the British Navy.  While in England, Maureen was licensed to serve 2 small parishes in the Diocese of Derby in the East Midlands.

Deacon Maureen has a MA in Education from SUNY Albany and taught high school science and math before attending Albany College of Pharmacy.  She practiced pharmacy for 30 years and has now retired from paid employment.  She is happy to assist in the pharmacy of a yearly medical mission to the Dominican Republic.

Maureen serves as the Deacon for Pastoral Care and believes strongly in the importance of maintaining loving connections with those parishioners unable to attend services at St. George’s on their own and those experiencing difficulties of any kind.  St. George’s is currently holding training for lay pastoral care givers through the Community of Hope.  We are also developing a meal ministry, reinvigorating our prayer ministry and hoping to develop a prayer shawl ministry.

Maureen and Randy live in Burnt Hills.  They have three grown sons, one grandson and two granddaughters.
