2019 has brought us a great first annual St. George’s Community Summer Family Read. We read three books of C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia.

The read included a reading plan, a read-aloud guide for your family, and online access to the St. George’s Summer Family Read Facebook Group.

Monthly Narnia events were held Sundays at 2:00 pm:

  • July 28 (The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe) COMPLETED! See photos from the event!
  • August 25 (Prince Caspian) Completed! Another great event. Enjoy these photos.
  • September 29 (The Voyage of the Dawn Treader) Completed with insight and fun. Here are a few photos.

The events featured Narnia themed kids’ activities and snacks, teaching and discussion time for adults, and the associated Narnia movie and popcorn!

Our exploraiton of Narnia ended with an adult trip to the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany on October 12th for a presentation by Lewis scholar Dr. Michael Ward, author of Planet Narnia: The Seven Heavens in the Imagination of C.S. Lewis. Michael Ward is Senior Research Fellow at Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford, and Professor of Apologetics at Houston Baptist University, Texas.
