Thy Kingdom Come
Light Up the World in Prayer
May 14th—May 24th 2026
Thy Kingdom Come is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension Day to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus. It is a concentrated time together to pray for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, shares his thoughts: “We are praying that God would open hearts and minds to His love and that by His Spirit, He would equip and enable us to be His faithful witnesses.”
Here at St. George’s, we plan to participate in the “555 Prayer Challenge.” During the ten day period between Ascension and Pentecost, we will each pray at 5:00 pm for 5 people for 5 minutes. The purpose is to recognize God’s love for the whole world and his offer of salvation for everyone. We will pray for each person on our list to come to know Jesus in a more profound way, that their spirit would be lifted by the presence of God in their lives, that they are encouraged in their faith journey and that others might see Jesus shine through them.
Simple "Thy Kingdom Come 2026" prayer cards will be on the table in the main church entrance on May 10th. Pick one up! They include simple prayer suggestions and a place to write the names of the 5 you are praying for.
